If you think 3D printing is only good for making delicate paperweights(壓紙器), then you’re pretty much right. However, a group of Dutch architects have already begun 3D printing an entire canal house in Amsterdam. Is the first 3D printed house a gimmick(喙頭)？Definitely! 3D Print Canal House is the brainchild of DUS Architects. “KamerMaker,” Dutch for “room maker”, is their giant printer built inside a shipping container. Let’s say you have a certain amount of money you’ve saved up for holiday gifts. If you want to get something for everyone on your list, you can’t spend much on any single purchase.
But have you ever heard the expression "time is money "? There’s some truth to it! We “spend” time just like we “spend” money, and in both cases, we have to spend it wisely if we want to get something good in return. Just like you might get an allowance of 10 dollars a week. Researchers in Japan and Australia say they have made progress in developing blood test that could one day help doctors identify who might get Alzheimer’s disease. In this age of equality, sameness between the sexes is emphasized as if differences have to mean problems. Well, differences can mean problems. but only when they are not properly understood.
Imagine Adam alone in the Garden of Eden and you will have an idea about the way many men feel today. Passage Two
Many people have the experience that getting up in the morning is so difficult and painful. This might be called laziness. But Dr. Kleitman has a new explanation to this, he has proved that everyone has a daily energy cycle.
During the hours when you labor through your work, you may say that youre feeling “hot”. That’s true. The time of day when you feel most energetic is when your cycle of body temperature is at its peak. No one has discovered why this is so, but it leads to such familiar monologue as: "Get up, Tom! Youll be late for school again! The possible explanation to the trouble is that Tom is at his temperature and energy peak in the evening.
Much family quarrelling ends when husbands and wives realize what these energy cycles mean, and which cycle each member of the family has. You cant change your energy cycle, but you can learn to make your life fit it better. Habit can help a lot. Maybe youre sleepy in the evening but feel you must stay up late anyway, counteract your cycle to some extent by habitually staying up later than you want to. However, if your energy is low in the morning but you have an important job to do early in the day, rise before your usual hour. Get off to slow start which saves your energy. Get up with a leisurely yawn and stretch. Sit on the edge of the bed a minute before putting your feet on the floor. Avoid the troublesome search for clean clothes by laying them out the night before. Whenever possible, do routine work in the afternoon and save tasks requiring more energy or concentration for your sharper hours.

Global warming is causing more than 300,000 deaths and about $125 billion in economic losses each year, according to a report by the Global Humanitarian Forum, an organization led by Annan, the former United Nations secretary general.
The report, to be released Friday, analyzed data and existing studies of health, disaster, population and economic trends. It found that human-influenced climate change was raising the global death rates from illnesses including malnutrition (營養(yǎng)不良) and heat-related health problems.
But even before its release, the report drew criticism from some experts on climate and risk, who questioned its methods and conclusions.
Along with the deaths, the report said that the lives of 325 million people, primarily in poor countries, were being seriously affected by climate change. It projected that the number would double by 2030.
Roger Pielke Jr.a political scientist at the University of Colorado, Boulder, who studies disaster trends, said the Forum’s report was “a methodological embarrassment” because there was no way to distinguish deaths or economic losses related to human-driven global warming amid the much larger losses resulting from the growth in populations and economic development in vulnerable (易受傷害的) regions. Dr. Pielke said that “climate change is an important problem requiring our utmost attention.” But the report, he said, “will harm the cause for action on both climate change and disasters because it is so deeply flawed (有瑕疵的).”
However, Soren Andreasen, a social scientist at Dalberg Global Development Partners who supervised the writing of the report, defended it, saying that it was clear that the numbers were rough estimates. He said the report was aimed at world leaders, who will meet in Copenhagen in December to negotiate a new international climate treaty.
In a press release describing the report, Mr. Annan stressed the need for the negotiations to focus on increasing the flow of money from rich to poor regions to help reduce their vulnerability to climate hazards while still curbing
the emissions of the heat-trapping gases. More than 90% of the human and economic losses from climate change are occurring in poor countries, according to the report.
